Mitsubishi PH issues airbag recall on certain Lancer, Evo and Fuzion models


Faulty airbag inflator prompts Mitsubishi Philippines to recall select models

Several models of the Lancer, Lancer Evolution IX and Fuzion will be recalled according to Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC). Parent company Mitsubishi Motors Corporation of Japan, has already issued a safety inspection campaign on affected units of the aforementioned models due to faulty airbag inflators. This proactive measure is meant to ensure the safety of our valued customers on the affected vehicles. To date, there have been no reported injuries/fatalities in the Philippines.

The inspection and/or replacement procedure of the affected airbag inflator may take two hours at the most and shall be free of charge. Models included in the safety inspection campaign are the: Lancer Evolution IX model year 2009 - 2010, Lancer model year 2006 - 2009 and Fuzion model year 2005 - 2008.

To ensure smooth servicing, customers may call their Mitsubishi dealership to schedule the servicing of their unit. For additional concerns and inquiries, customers can get in touch with MMPC Customer Care Center at telephone numbers (+632) 250-8888 Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm. All authorized Mitsubishi Motors Service Centers nationwide are also capable and ready to attend to any related customers’ inquiry and concerns.


There will be a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) checking/verification procedure for all potentially affected units which is posted at MMPC's website.
