Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) closed the year by registering a total of 43,176 units sold. This figure is the highest annual sales that MMPC was able to attain, surpassing the record of 36,533 units sold in 1996. MMPC also had its seventh consecutive sales growth with a rate of 23.7% which is higher than the total industry’s growth improvement.

MMPC also accomplished the highest monthly retail sales in history by registering a total of 4,322 units sold. On the other hand, members of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturer of the Philippines (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturer Association (TMA) reported combined annual sales of 181,283 vehicles which showed an improvement of 15.7% compared to 156,649 units sold last 2012. With these figures, MMPC says they have surpassed its target sales and was able to attain a 23.8% market share modestly better than 2012. MMPC also said they strongly maintained its number two position in the automotive industry.

Mirage G4

MMPC 2013 performance also shows the increase of units sold on the Passenger Cars (PC), the Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), and the Trucks segments. MMPC was able to strengthen its presence on the PC segment with the locally manufactured Lancer EX, Mirage Hatchback, and the introduction of the Mirage G4 sedan during the last quarter. MMPC’s PC sales sold 9,718 units or 202.4% which is significantly higher compared to the total PC sales of 3,214 units during 2012. The Truck segment sales also improved by 28.3% with 788 units sold while an increase of 5.1% is accounted for the LCV segment with 32,642 units sold compared to 31,058 units sold in 2012.

MMPC says, based on CAMPI data, the Montero Sport is the bestselling LCV in the country. The Montero Sport and several other models made it into the top ten lists of bestselling vehicles in the country. The Montero Sport was able to reached 14,683 units sold making it the bestselling LCV in the country. Meanwhile, the L300 FB/Chassis Cab and the Adventure were also included in the list of top ten LCV with 6,810 and 6,580 units sold respectively. The Mirage Hatchback also managed to be the top 3 in the bestselling PC in the market with a total of 6,191 units sold.

Last year the MMPC commemorated its 50 years anniversary. It was also during this year when the Mirage Hatchback won the 'Car of the Year' plus the Montero Sport being awarded as the 'Midsize SUV of the Year' in the Auto Focus People’s Choice award.
