Two weeks ago, Mitsubishi previewed their concept that combines “the elements of a crossover and MPV” in one package. The automaker has now fully revealed the car and has named it the XM.
Just like we reported, the MPV-Crossover mix features elements from the eX crossover concept that was unveiled in Japan during the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Up front, it boasts of Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield fascia that blends the concept's slim headlights to the grill and lower air intake. It also has large, trapezoidal LED foglights along with silver finish trim at the lower valence and grill surround.
On to its side, it has bold box-flare wheel arches and two character lines that define its doors and rear quarter panel. The windshield meanwhile merges into a panoramic glass roof and a high roof-line, a common element in MPVs. Mitsubishi said the overall look of the concept, “fuses SUV-like styling and functionality” as seen by its raised ride height.
Mitsubishi has yet to show the XM concept's interior but the automaker says that it will offer seating for seven. In addition, Mitsubishi says that the seats allows for a variety of seating arrangements. Its dash meanwhile gets a wide elevated center console with a black and white contrast interior theme. It also gets silver accents throughout the interior.
In Mitsubishi's full-fiscal year forecast, they confirmed a production version of a new small crossover. The manufacturer has officially stated that the concept will go into production, to be revealed in the late next year. Production for Mitsubishi's Crossover-MPV will begin by October 2017 and to be built in Indonesia.
