Mitsubishi Strada Captures 52.1% Market Share in 2007
Sales of the Mitsubishi Strada 4x4 during 2007 reached 1,916 units edging out its nearest rival, the Toyota Hi-Lux, by 707 units. This enabled Mitsubishi Motors Philippines to capture 52.1% market share of the total 3,678 4x4 pick-ups sold last year.
In a statement made by Mr. Froilan Dytianquin, MMPC's AVP for Marketing Services, "We are confident that the buyers of our Strada are very satisfied with its looks, features, and ride comfort. That's why an increasing number of people are convinced to get one for themselves. For 2008, aside from maintaining market leadership in this 4x4 category, we are looking forward to an upward trend in our sales, especially with the introduction of two new models this year."
The Strada 4x4 is available in these variants: the 3.2 GLS Sport Automatic, 3.2 GLS Sport Manual, and the 2.5 GLS Manual. 3.2 liter models have the 4M41 engine that produces 160Ps at 3,800 rpm and 343 N-m of torque at 2,000 rpm. While the 2.5 liter 4D56 engine outputs136PS @ 3,500 rpm and maximum torque is 314 N-m @ 2,000 rpm. Both feature a DOHC 16-valve cylinder head, Direct Injection Diesel with Hyper Common Rail, and a high response turbocharger with front mount intercooler.
Recently introduced late last year was the Strada GL and the Strada GLX 4x2. These two wheel drive Stradas stands high like its 4-wheel drive sibling and is also equipped with the 2.5 4D56 Di-D engine. The same spacious cabin is equipped with power windows, central locking, high contrast instrument cluster, CD player with FM/AM tuner, and high grade sport-type fabric seats to name a few. Major differences of the Strada GLX 4x2 over the GL 4x2 are: dual SRS airbags, aluminum alloy wheels fitted with 205/80 R 16 tires, fog lamps, chrome side mirrors and door handles.
