Mitsubishi's all-new three-row MPV will soon be making its way on the open road. Recently, the automaker released several new teaser images of what may well be the production version of the XM Concept.
Based on the images, the crossover (which may be christened as the Expander in Indonesia) appears to remain faithful to the original concept design. Up front, it gets Mitsubishi's signature Dynamic Shield design that is dominated by sleek headlights, a sleek two-piece grill and large daytime running lights.
From the side, it looks like Mitsubishi took inspiration from the Montero Sport and applied it in the upcoming three-row crossover. Key designs include the sharp creases and flared wheel arches that give the crossover an aggressive look.
L-shaped taillights flank the rear quarter panels and the large tailgate. Meanwhile, the rear bumper appears to have a rear diffuser as standard. Other details about the all-new MPV still remain a mystery however.
In review, the XM Concept was first revealed during the 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) which previews an all-new MPV from Mitsubishi. It blends the practicality of an MPV along with the ruggedness of a crossover. In addition, Mitsubishi claimed that the XM is relatively taller and wider than most compact MPVs.
It also made its presence felt during the 2016 Philippine International Motor Show when Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp (MMPC) brought it over from Indonesia.
Mitsubishi will produce the next-generation MPV at their newly-built $565 million state-of-the-art factory in Indonesia. Apart from that, the factory will also produce models of the Montero Sport and the L300 utility vehicle.
Mitsubishi will hold the global reveal of the new three-row MPV at this year's Gaikindo International Auto Show, August 10, 2017.
