Mitsubishi Thailand expands Passion Red special edition lineup with Montero Sport
Mitsubishi has launched yet another special edition model over in Thailand.
After releasing the Passion Red Xpander and Strada models earlier this year, Mitsubishi Thailand has revealed the Montero Sport Passion Red Special Edition. Called Pajero Sport over in The Land of Smiles, the SUV gets a unique shade of red, along with some unique features exclusive only to this limited-run model.
Like the MPV and pick-up, the Montero Sport is finished in a special coat of red. But in order to make the vehicle truly stand out from the rest, Mitsubishi also installed several exterior upgrades. These include a blacked-out grille with a black bumper trim, smoked LED headlights, black roof rails, and a decorative panel on the rear bumper finished in black.
Also present in the Passion Red Montero Sport are the special 18-inch alloy wheel. Aside from the fact they're finished in black, it also gets a unique 'Passion Red' badge which further highlights the vehicle's snazzier look. Last but not least, the SUV comes with a '60 Years' badge on the side which commemorates Mitsubish's 60th anniversary in Thailand.
Aside from the exterior, this particular Montero Sport gets some special upgrades on the inside. The door sill plates leather seat headrests, and a special leather key case all feature the brand's 60th-anniversary logo. When it comes to equipment, it comes with a wireless phone charger, an upgraded 360-degree camera system for easier maneuverability.
Since the Passion Red edition is based on the top-spec GT, the vehicle also comes with the following features; dual-zone automatic climate control with nano-e filtration system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, satellite navigation, power-adjustable driver's seat, fully-digital instrument panel, and an automatic tailgate.
Under the hood, it's powered by the familiar 2.4-liter 4N15 turbo-diesel engine with MIVEC. It continues to make 181 PS at 3500 rpm, along with 430 Nm of torque at 2500 rpm. Power is then sent to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. 4WD is available as an option.
With the Montero Sport Passion Red exclusively available to Thailand only, it's highly unlikely that this will be offered elsewhere. In the future, we're hoping Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) makes their own anniversary special models of the Montero Sport, Xpander, and the Strada.
