Mitsubishi Motors has announced that they are in talks with Suzuki Motor Corporation about OEM supply of a minicar electric light commercial vehicle based on the MINICAB-MiEV
Suzuki has come to be known as the specialist when it comes to compact and subcompact cars, which is probably why MMC is looking to them as a potential customer to supply with their upcoming electric MINICAB-MiEV.
Mitsubishi intends for the relationship to increase the economies of scale for MMC to reduce manufacturing costs and improve productivity. MMC is no stranger to this strategic partnership, as the automaker has been supplying PSA Peugeot Citroen since the launch of the MiEV in 2009.
The announcement has comes after Suzuki terminated their partnership with VW. Suzuki also filed a lawsuit against their former partner, Volkswagen, over a dispute of ownership since 2010 after VW referred to Suzuki as an "associate" in its annual report. Suzuki is currently taking the German automaker to court to reclaim VW's 19.9% stake in Suzuki.
