What was originally exclusive to Thailand has now made its way to other markets in Southeast Asia.

After posting teaser images yesterday, Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia has officially revealed the XForce HEV. Now available outside of Thailand for the first time, the hybrid variant could make its way to other markets in Southeast Asia.

Just like the one launched in The Land of Smiles last year, the Mitsubishi XForce HEV in Indonesia is powered by a 1.6L four-cylinder engine that's assisted by an electric motor and a compact lithium-ion battery. It's essentially the same electrified powertrain that's also seeing use in the likes of the Xpander HEV, which is also on sale in Thailand.

The engine alone makes 107 PS with 134 Nm of torque, but with the help of an electric motor, it has a total system output of 116 PS and 255 Nm of torque. It also comes with seven drive modes: EV, Charge, Tarmac, Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud. Since it's now a hybrid, it has an electric water pump to reduce parasitic loss, along with a newly developed two-speed transaxle that Mitsubishi claims will deliver improved quietness at high speeds and better acceleration when going uphill.

Mitsubishi claims the XForce HEV is capable of achieving 24.4 km per liter, which makes it highly fuel efficient against the likes of the Toyota Corolla Cross HEV and the Honda HR-V e:HEV.

Design-wise, the XForce HEV almost looks the same as the regular XForce. However, it does get some subtle changes here and there, like HEV badges on the front grille & tailgate, new aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheels, and redesigned front & rear bumpers.

Inside, the interior of the XForce HEV is almost similar to the non-hybrid versions. However, one clear indication that it's the hybrid variant is the new gear selector, which appears to be the same one found in the Xpander HEV. Infotainment comes in the form of a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, which supports both wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. It also has the brand's signature Yamaha Dynamic Sound system for audiophiles to enjoy.

Also new inside the XForce HEV is a new frameless panoramic glass roof. Not only does it let more light into the cabin, but it also offers a wider view for passengers to enjoy while on the road. Last but not least, the XForce HEV features an enhanced suspension system to better absorb shocks to ensure a smoother and more comfortable ride.

With the Mitsubishi XForce HEV now available in Indonesia, we're hoping Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) will soon be able to offer the electrified crossover in the country, along with the Xpander HEV.
