Yesterday, the MMDA closed certain U-turn slots in Metro Manila to relieve traffic in specific areas. Many uninformed motorists were caught off-guard as authorities implemented the plan.

The U-turn slots already affected by the MMDA plan include those located at:

  • C-5 Avenue Libis, in front of the BMW dealership – closed from 4pm to 8pm
  • C5 Avenue, Katipunan and Boni Serrano – southbound slot closed from 7am to 10 am
  • Quezon Avenue near Examiner Street and Scout Borromeo – closed permanently

Following these 3, MMDA also plans to close the U-turn slot along EDSA near the Kalayaan bridge and Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati from 7am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm.

It was the first day of implementation yesterday. However, the move combined with the heavy downpour paralyzed the traffic on some roads. MMDA is still studying what adjustments are needed to further improve the traffic condition in Metro Manila.
