Morning traffic flow along EDSA has always been horrendous and it appears that the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) plans to alleviate the clogged up highway by opening up zipper lanes again along the busy road.

Today, the MMDA once again implemented the experimental road scheme for southbound vehicles in EDSA. From 0600 – 0900 hours, MMDA opened a portion of the northbound lane to southbound motorists as a means to ease up congestion for motorists bound for Makati and further down south. Like the previous implementation, the zipper lane starts off at SM Megamall and ends at Bonifacio Avenue.

There are no other details yet on whether the MMDA will make this a daily road scheme or for days when traffic is at a stand still.

Aside from EDSA southbound zipper lane, the MMDA also made use of the experimental road scheme along Katipunan back in September 2014, and along the southbound lane of Tramo Road during Undas 2014.
