Some good news to motorists this Holy Week.
In line with the observance of the Holy Week, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that the number coding scheme will be suspended from April 17 to 22. Yes, you read that right. The MMDA will also be suspending coding on April 22, Monday, the following week.
The MMDA did not disclose why Monday, April 22, was also included in the suspension of coding. Nonetheless, it is very welcoming news for motorists both in the metro and those returning to Metro Manila from the break. In particular, the suspension of ‘coding’ on Monday is helpful to those planning to return from the Lenten Break on the 22nd while having a Monday-"coded" vehicle. That said, don't try to push your luck on Tuesday, though, as the MMDA will start implementing number coding again on April 23.
So if you’re planning to go around town during the Lenten Break, no need to worry about getting pulled over for a ‘coding’ violation when driving around Metro Manila. Enjoy the open city roads before motorists return from their travels outside the Metro.
