Gearing up for this year's Undas? Well the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is also making preparations to ensure that order is kept along busy roads and major thoroughfares on All Saints' Day and All Souls Day this November.
Beginning October 27, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said that 'Oplan Undas 2018' will be activated. With it, more than 2,000 personal traffic personnel will be deployed on traffic-prone areas from morning until evening to maintain smooth traffic flow. To ensure that all personnel are available, MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim is expected to declare a No Dayoff, No Absent Policy for the traffic personnel from October 27 – November 3.
In addition, members of Task Force Special Operations are now clearing roads leading to cemeteries of obstructions. Meanwhile, members of the Metro Parkway Clearing Group are tidying up the vicinities of major cemeteries in Metro Manila.
“We leave the responsibility of cleaning inside cemeteries to local government units. We are also calling on the public to keep cemeteries clean and tidy,” added Garcia.
Tents will be set up by the Road Emergency Group and will act as Public Assistance Centers (PACs) while ambulances will be provided as well for emergency medical care for cemetery goers.
The major cemeteries that will be under the MMDA's watch include: Manila North Cemetery in Manila, Manila South Cemetery in Makati, Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina, Bagbag Public Cemetery in Quezon City and the Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque.
