You have to be involved in Ferrari's race programs to buy this 488 Pista
Over the years, Ferrari has produced some highly exclusive vehicles such as the LaFerrari and even one-off models like the SP38. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend, the Prancing Horse revealed a special edition of the 488 Pista called 'Piloti Ferrari'. Unlike other special edition models, you can't just throw a huge chunk of money to aquire this car.
To be able to buy the Piloti Ferrari 488 Pista, you'd have to be involved in one of Ferrari's racing programs. It was specially built by the brand's "Tailor Made" program and is reserved for customers who are actual client racing drivers.
Should you be fortunate enough to be qualified to buy one, the Piloti Ferrari dons a unique livery in order for it to be distinguished from a regular 488 Pista. The livery on the Piloti Ferrari is inspired by the artwork found on the no.51 488 GTE of the team AF Corse which won the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ titles.
Instead of regular racing stripes, it sports a special Italian-flag motif on the hood, roof and sides, similar to the GTE racer. It also carries the same number 51 throughout its body, which can be changed to the customer's personal racing number upon ordering. To specify which category the GTE car raced in, the word 'PRO' and 'WEC' has also been embellished on the exterior.
Step inside, and the GTE theme continues. The Alcantara seats are finished with a design that incorporates the colors of Italian flag. The Tricolore theme even makes it way to the paddle shifters and the floor mats. Rounding-off the interior make over is the number 51 which was applied to the base of the steering wheel.
Should you be qualified enough to own one, Ferrari only offers the Piloti Ferrari 488 Pista in 4 different colors: Rosso Corsa (as pictured here), Blu Tour De France, Nero Daytona and Argento Nürburgring.
