Mitsubishi Motors Laem Chabang plant celebrates five million unit production milestone

Mitsubishi continues to maintain a foothold in South East Asia with a strong supply and answer to demand. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation just announced that Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has rolled out five million units from its production line. The Laem Chebang facility marked this milestone after completing a unit of the Montero Sport.

To commemorate this accomplishment, the event was graced by Deputy Prime Minister to the Kingdom of Thailand Somkid Jatusripitak, Shiro Sadoshima, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan, Osamu Masuko, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and BOI's Honorary Investment Advisor, along with other VIP guests, business partners and employees.

"Mitsubishi Motors Thailand's milestone today underlines the role of the automotive industry as one of Thailand's growth engines. The company's commitment to Thailand, and its leadership in sustainable practices is initiative that will help us achieve our national economic goals.", said Jatusripitak.

In addition, Osamu Masuko expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation from the Thai government.

"We have always had the confidence in Thailand's potential for domestic market growth. Its long-term policies to grow the automotive industry also a positive sign for our business," added Masuko.

Outside of Japan, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand's Laem Chabang facilities are said to be their biggest. With exports going to more than 120 countries, it is capable of producing 424,000 vehicles a year. Three different plants carry out the operations; the first of which opened in 1992, the second in 1996, and the third in 2007 following Mitsubishi's entry into the Eco Car project.
