High performance Clubman gains all-wheel drive
Mini has just introduced a new range-topping, high performance version of the Clubman. Receiving the full John Cooper Works (JCW) treatment, it gets more power, uprated suspension and all-wheel drive.
The Mini Clubman JCW presents the first ever combination of the new turbocharged 2.0-liter John Cooper Works tuned engine with ALL4 all-wheel drive system ALL4. The engine tuning and upgrades give the JCW a 39 PS boost over the Clubman S with power now rated at 231 PS. Torque also gets a significant bump from 280 Nm in the S to 350 Nm for the JCW. Offered with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic, claimed 0 to 100 km/h times are identical at 6.3 seconds.
Aside from tweaks under the hood, the Clubman JCW gets minor exterior changes as well. The front section replaces the parking and fog lights for larger side cooling air inlets to feed more air into the engine. It also has JCW specific side sills plus a wide rear apron with integrated tapered dual tailpipes. This model also adds the John Cooper Works rear spoiler and a hexagonal honeycomb pattern grill. Like all Minis, a wide selection of stripes and graphics will be available for the customer.
Inside, the dash is carried over from the Cooper S plus round shapes seen all over the cabin. It also comes standard with Radio MINI Visual Boost with 6.5-inch color screen, USB socket, AUX-IN socket and Bluetooth hands-free facility. Opt for MINI Connected and the screen size grows to 8.8 inches. MINI Connect also includes concierge services plus online entertainment applications such as Spotify, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Deezer, Audiobooks from Audible, Napster/Rhapsody, TuneIn, Glympse and Life360.
