Offers high personal safety within the Sports Activity Vehicle range
BMW will be unveiling a new factory armored model at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show - the X5 Security Plus.
The German automaker did not said any specifics except that the SUV has a VR6 safety rating, the fourth highest ranking in ballistic protection. It has special protection in its seams and connecting joints that assures a solid construction. The safety glass used for the X5 Security Plus is also rated at VR6 to ensure safety from ballistics.
Under the hood is a 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 that cranks out 450 PS along with 650 Nm of torque and runs on the company's proprietary BMWxDrive all-wheel drive system. The armored variant of the X5 will still be able to hold its own on and off-road according to the German automaker.
