Nissan has just given the Navara some minor tweaks and upgrades in its latest refresh for 2019. While it's not the most radical of changes, Nissan actually focused more on improving what's underneath the pickup truck. From cleaner turbo-diesel engines and better stopping power, to a new infotainment system and uprated suspension, Nissan was quite busy indeed improving the Navara.
Let's begin with the not so obvious changes Nissan made for the pickup truck. Like its predecessor, the familiar front fascia design remains on the 2019 facelift. What's new, however, are the black inlays on the LED headlights which give the Navara a fresh new look. Then there's the new alloy wheel designs that are available in 17- and 18-inch sizes.
But what is perhaps the most obvious change on the 2019 Navara is its updated rear suspension. With it, the rear of the pickup now stands 25mm taller, which could help matters off-road and with the payload. Moreover, Nissan said that the revised rear suspension also improved the Navara's cargo carrying capacity. Stopping power on the Navara was is also better thanks to four-wheel disc brakes, doing away with the rear drums.
Not only did Nissan give the Navara some exterior changes, they were also busy making upgrades inside the cabin. Greeting occupants inside is a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system dubbed 'Nissan Connect'. According to Nissan, it has a user-friendly interface, comes with Apple CarPlay, and comes with connected services that can remotely control certain functions of the Navara.
With the help of an app, the driver can lock the doors, check the fuel level, or even locate where the vehicle was parked. Other than that, the Navara's cabin largely remains the same as before.
Under the hood, the Euro-spec 2019 Navara is powered by a 2.3-liter turbo-diesel engine. For its latest update, Nissan claimed that both the 163 and 190 PS versions now conform to Euro 6d-temp emission standards. Nissan says power delivery was improved on the entry-level version as well thanks to the addition of a twin-turbo system which was initally available only on the more powerful variants.
As before, the 2019 Navara is equipped with Nissan's suite of Intelligent Mobility features. These include: intelligent around-view monitor, intelligent emerency braking, hill-start assist, and hill-descent control.
The refreshed Nissan Navara will be offered in Europe first and eventualy make its way to other markets in the coming months.
