The Metro Pacific Tollway Corporation (MPTC) has a gift to motorists this coming holiday – toll-free expressways.
Motorists passing through NLEX, SCTEX, CAVITEX, C5 Link, and CALAX will enjoy toll-free travel on Christmas and New Year. According to the MPTC, no toll fees will be collected on all expressways starting from 10:00 PM of December 24 to 6:00 AM of December 25, and from 10:00 PM. of December 31 to 6:00 AM of January 1, 2021. Afterward, tolls plazas will return to normal and collect fees once more.
“This simple treat is part of our group’s initiative to give back to our customers especially this holiday season,” said MPTC president and CEO Rodrigo E. Franco.
Franco also said that all MPTC expressways are ready for the expected surge in traffic volume with the implementation of the “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” (SMSK) motorist assistance program. Until January 4, 2021, MPTC will have intensified operations by deploying more patrol crews, traffic marshals, security teams, and RFID assist squads to provide motorists safe and convenient travel. To further smoothen the flow of traffic, all construction and lane closures have been suspended until January 5, 2021.
MPTC's initiative on making expressways toll-free on Christmas and New Year is similar to San Miguel Corporation's (SMC) annual announcement of a toll holiday. So if you have plans of going out of town, whether it's heading up north or south during Christmas Eve or New Year, better do so between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. It's a great time to take advantage of toll-free expressways. You won't have to deal with troublesome RFIDs either.
