For 2018, the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the holding company of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and CAVITEX, is expanding their coverage of their annual ‘Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko’ (SMSK) motorist assistance program. Previously, the program only covered 3 major events namely, Holy Week, Undas and the Christmas holidays.
Today, MPTC has announced that upcoming long weekends, specifically Araw ng Kagitingan on April 7-9, National Heroes’ Day on August 25-27, and Bonifacio Day on November 30-December 2 will be included in the coverage. Together with the expansion of coverage, the SMSK will also offer free 24-hour towing service for Class 1 (Passenger) vehicles during the said periods rather than the previous 12-hour operation.
“We are implementing a more extensive SMSK starting this Holy Week to further improve our services for safe and convenient travel o our motorist traveling between Metro Manila and Central and North Luzon provinces,” said MPTC president and CEO Rodrigo E. Franco.
To further improve traffic flow along the expressways, road works at NLEX-SCTEX and CAVITEX will be suspended beginning March 23 to April 2 unless immediate safety repairs are required.
Beginning March 23, NLEX-SCTEX traffic personnel will have extended working hours to monitor the expected increase of vehicles travelling along the expressway. On the peak hours of March 28 to April 1, more toll collection points will be opened on Balintawak, Mindanao Avenue and Tarlac toll plazas along NLEX. The same will done along CAVITEX toll plazas during the duration of the periods.
