Motorists rejoice as another route is opened from Pasay City to other parts of Metro Manila to relieve vehicular congestion in the airport area.
Starting 6AM today, the Department of Public Work and Highway opened up a new section of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Expressway in order to give motorists going to and from the airport area another alternate route.
The newly opened segment of the NAIA Expressway, dubbed the ‘Christmas Lane’ connects Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard to NAIA-Terminal 3 and Skyway and adds to the existing portion that connects Macapagal Blvd. and PAGCOR Entertainment City in Pasay to NAIA Terminals 1 and 2, which opened last September 22.
The new section, will be free to use temporarily for three weeks.
“Makakatulong ito para sa mga kababayan nating darating ngayong Pasko. Maganda ang patutunguhan kung maganda ang daloy ng trapiko,” said Transportation Secretary Art Tugade.
[This will help our countrymen this coming Christmas (season). Good things will happen when the flow of traffic is good.]
The opened sections of the NAIA Expressway is estimated to reduce travel time by at least 40-percent and by the time the Php 20 billion project is complete, it will connect all the NAIA terminals to the South Luzon Expressway, Manila Cavite Toll Expressway and Macapagal Boulevard.
“By first quarter of 2017, we hope to provide the public full access of NAIA Expressway, including Runway Manila,” said DPWH Secretary Mark Villar.
