2017 Kia Forte gets design and tech update
Kia has revealed the updated Forte sedan at this year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) featuring a restyled fascia, a new powertrain and advanced tech.
Starting with the exterior, the 2017 Forte sedan is fitted with a new front bumper as well as a revamped ‘tiger nose’ grill that has been extended to connect with the redesigned headlights.
The rear has new taillights with optional LED technology while the 2017 Forte’s bumper and exhaust pipe get subtle design tweaks.
Kia said that the 2017 Forte sedan will be offered with a new sporty S trim which comes with a sport-tuned suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, rear spoiler and a chrome exhaust tip.
Inside, the 2017 Forte sedan is equipped with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. It also has leather seats with heated front seats, a dual-zone automatic climate control, rear aircon vents and a push-button start with Smart Key. The vehicle also features three drive modes which include Normal, Eco and Sport.
In terms of safety, the 2017 Forte has an autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, lane change warning, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, lane change assist and rear-cross traffic alert.
Under the hood, the 2017 Forte is powered by a new 2.0-liter Atkinson engine that replaces the 1.8-liter power unit of the previous model. The engine is mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. However, official power ratings are yet to be released by the Korean automaker.
