Quarantine Control Points to stay according to the PNP

If you're thinking of going on a road trip soon outside NCR Plus since it's now under General Community Quarantine, better think again.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) made it clear that quarantine control points (QCPs) will remain in place within the borders of NCR Plus. In a statement, newly-appointed PNP Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar ordered all policemen stationed in QCPs to continue checking vehicles crossing the borders.

In addition, Eleazar ordered them to arrest and charge anyone found smuggling people in and out of NCR Plus. Eleazar's order comes just after several people were apprehended several months ago for defying the rules of essential travel.

Just last April, 12 colorum vehicles were caught by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Even more shocking is that some of the smuggled passengers tested positive for the virus.

“Ang NCR Plus nga po ay nasa GCQ with heightened restrictions, meaning hindi pa rin po papayagan ang non-essential o unnecessary travel papasok at palabas ng NCR Plus,” said Eleazar.

[NCR Plus is in GCQ with heightened restrictions, meaning non-essential or unnecessary travel will still not be allowed in and out of NCR Plus.]

With GCQ in effect until May 31, 2021, the PNP Chief appealed to the public to only make essential trips out of the house to reduce the chances of being exposed. Also, he reminded everyone to follow minimum health protocols and wear a face mask/face shield at all times in public places.

Some may think that there are fewer restrictions now that NCR Plus is under GCQ. But the danger is still present, and thousands of cases continue to be reported daily. In case you don't need to make essential trips, just stay indoors and keep safe amid the ongoing pandemic.
