When people think of the Chevrolet Orlando, most would remember it as a uniquely styled multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) introduced by the automaker back in 2011. Though the Orlando was offered locally for only a short period of time, the 7-seater MPV was sold almost everywhere else in the world. It was only this 2018 did production stop. That said, a new model could debut soon...not as an MPV though.
In China, the Chevrolet Orlando seems to have been reborn as a crossover instead of the MPV as before. We first saw the photos of the new SUV surface from the Chinese website Autohome. Looking at the Chevrolet China's website, they appear to have released scare details regarding the new Orlando mostly refering to its styling and exterior features.
Design wise, the new Orlando SUV adopts styling similar to that of other current Chevrolet models, specifically the front fascia. The slim grill is flanked by a pair of slim LED headlights while a large air intake is positioned below it.
At the rear, the Orlando has a more simple design with just a clean tailgate and slim LED taillights with the Chevy bow tie logo dead center. It does seem to take inspiration from the Blazer with the tiny side glass which connects the quarter window to the rear window. Translating the text, the higher-end model Orlando will also be offered with a panoramic sunroof and a blacked out look replacing the chrome.
Based on information listed on Autohome's website, the Orlando's new dimension is now 4,684 mm long, 1,807 mm wide and 1,628 mm tall. The wheelbase is also longer as it now measures 2,796mm long over the MPV model. Depending on the variant, it is being offered in either 5 or 7 seat configuration.
No details were mentioned regarding the Orlando's engine. While there is a 530T badge at the rear, it doesn't necessarily refer to anything regarding engine unit or power output.
It is still uncertain when the new Orlando will officially make its debut and whether it will be a China-only model considering GM already has the Trailblazer elsewhere in the world.
