Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has just expanded the model lineup of the Montero Sport in time for the coming holidays. Called the Montero Sport GLX, the new model serves as the entry-level variant and comes in 4x2 configuration and a 6-speed manual transmission.

Powering the GLX is the familiar 2.4-liter 4N15 Clean Diesel engine that puts out 181 PS at 3500 rpm and 430 Nm of torque at 2500 rpm. As mentioned earlier, it gets the 6-speed manual gearbox that drives the rear wheels only. Beyond that, MMPC also said the GLX has a wide gear ratio and a highly efficient clutch.

As for in-car amenities, the GLX still gets several features found in the higher-spec models. These include the following: central door locking, power windows, window switch illumination, multimedia infotainment and automatic climate control.

In terms of safety features, the base variant GLX comes with anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and three-point ELR seatbelts with pretensioners for the driver and front passenger.

The new Montero Sport GLX is now available at all authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealerships and has an introductory price of PhP 1,280,000. Suggested retail price is at PhP 1,395,000. Like all Mitsubishi vehicles sold in the country, it comes with a three-year warranty or 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
