Michelin rubber will be keeping all Ford Performance vehicles planted on the pavement after the automaker and the tire manufacturer recently closed a deal wherein the French company will be providing custom-made tires for the special line of cars.

“We have a long relationship with Michelin, and could not ask for a better teammate to help extract maximum capability from our vehicles. That confidence extends from our upcoming racing effort at Le Mans in 2016 with the all-new Ford GT, to the Ford Performance vehicle lineup, including Shelby GT350 and F-150 Raptor,” said Dave Pericak, Director, Ford Performance.

Besides delivering the necessary grip, both Ford and Michelin will collaborate in developing new tires for each Ford Performance vehicle. From conception, design and testing, the customized tires will also face a wide range of performance targets including: lateral grip, noise, vibration and harshness, and durability.

And as previously mentioned, Michelin will also be Ford's technical associate for the all-new Ford GT race program when the automaker competes in the 2016 Le Mans.

“Our tire development teams are excited to be working hand-in-hand with Ford on these amazing vehicles. The Michelin Pilot tires and BFGoodrich T/A KO2 tires on Ford Performance vehicles are all custom-tuned to help maximize vehicle performance on multiple fronts,” said Thom Roach, Vice President, Original Equipment Marketing, Michelin North America.
