When Geely Philippines launched the all-new Okavango last year, we were impressed with its bevy of standard features. You can even check out our review of the range-topping Okavango Urban here. But, we did notice one thing missing feature with the vehicle – a sunroof. Unlike the two other models offered by Geely, the Okavango was the only model not available with a sunroof, even in top-of-the-line trim.

That will soon change, however.

Geely Philippines has released a teaser for a new Okavango variant called the Urban Plus and is scheduled to debut this coming February 12. At the moment, the automaker has yet to release detailed information about the upcoming model. But based on the video's description of “You’ll soon see what’s up… literally”, it will finally have a large panoramic sunroof that some customers have been waiting for.

There's no word yet if the only difference between the Okavango Urban and the upcoming Urban Plus will be the addition of a sunroof. However, we wouldn't be surprised if other more changes were made to the including high-end materials and better speakers. Geely could also add more safety systems, and even update the infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

For the engine and powertrain, the same 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo with a 48V mild-hybrid system will likely be carried over. It produces 190 PS and 300 Nm torque paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. While the Comfort and Urban are strictly front-wheel-drive only, the Urban Plus could have all-wheel-drive. If so, it would allow the Okavango to live up to its Africa-sourced name.

Other differences? The price. The Okavango Urban retails for PHP 1,328,000. The new Urban Plus will likely be even higher than that.

Whatever the 2021 Okavango Urban Plus has in store, we're excited about it. We'll also know more once it officially launches on February 12.
