Land Rover has just completed the Range Rover model lineup with the reveal of the all-new 2013 Range Rover Sport. The company claims that it is the fastest, most agile and most responsive Land Rover yet with an engine option of either a 510PS 5.0-liter V8 or a tamer 258PS 3.0-liter TDSV6. All these petrol and diesel fed engines will be paired to the ZF 8HP70 eight-speed automatic gearbox to deliver acceleration times from 0 to 100km/h in as fast as 5 seconds.
With the current aluminum body which is 500kg lighter than the previous model, Land Rover explores the possibility of introducing additional engine options in 2014 with a 339PS 4.4-liter SDV8 diesel engine and a more efficient diesel-hybrid model.
To further establish its all-around capabilities, it now has a higher ground clearance at 278mm while wheel travel offers a generous 260mm in front and 272mm at the rear. To ensure maximum performance, the Terrain Response 2 system automatically selects the most suitable terrain program.
Interior packaging was also optimized for a more spacious rear cabin with 24mm more knee room, while occupants also benefit from the wider cabin. New, neatly integrated third row can offer 5+2 seating layout. These powered seats leave a flat floor with no loss of boot space and are split 50/50.
“The all-new Range Rover Sport is a vehicle that has been designed and engineered without compromise. With Land Rover capability at its heart, it is one of the most road focussed vehicles we’ve ever produced, but of course still offers unsurpassed all-terrain capability. It is a vehicle which is designed to be driven." explains John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director.
