Ford will debut the Mustang 50 year limited edition at the 2014 New York Intenational Auto Show.
The vehicle was created to commemorate the Mustang’s 50th birthday. Ford will only be producing 1,964 units, in honor of the pony car’s debut in 1964.
The 50 Year Limited Edition is based on the all-new 2015 Mustang GT fastback with Performance Pack.
It will only be available in two colors: Wimbledon White and Kona Blue. Chrome bezels surround the base of the three tail lamp blades that draws inspiration from the original 1962 design proposal of Gale Halderman. The vehicle also comes with a large cap badge on the rear with ‘50 Years’ added to the GT emblem.
The interior of the commemorative American pony car features an aluminum trim panel. The instrument cluster has an axel spin finish that is different from the standard 2015 Mustang. It also has a serialized ‘50 Year Limited Edition’ badge on the passenger side.
Ford says the 50 Year Limited Edition is the only 2015 Mustang that features a cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel. The stitching is also used on the instrument panel, shifter boot, center armrest, door inserts and seats. The seats have a two-tone cashmere and black leather upholstery.
The car will also have loop-carpet floor mats with cashmere stitching and suede binding.
It will be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 423 PS with 528 Nm of torque. As part of the Performance Pack, the 50 Year Limited Edition includes six-piston Brembo front brakes and 19-inch alloy wheels.
“We wanted to provide our most dedicated fans with the emotion of the original Mustang in a 21st century car. With this 50 Year Limited Edition, I believe we have accomplished our goal,” Ford said in a press release.
