Mercedes-Benz just bagged three our of five World Car of the Year Awards during the 2015 New York International Auto Show.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class was named the 2015 World Car of the Year besting the Ford Mustang and the Volkswagen Passat. According to the World Car Awards jury members, the C-Class emerged as the winner due to its all-new aluminum/steel hybrid platform as well as the updated rear-drive powertrains.
With this, Mercedes-Benz Chairman Dr. Dieter Zetsche said that they are delighted of winning the 2015 World Car of the Year award as the C-Class has always been a “trendsetter” in the premium medium-size category.
“The C-Class is a best seller that has always been a trendsetter in the premium medium-size category. This is true for the new C-Class as well. It comes to the starting line with qualities usually reserved for higher-class automobiles. It embodies what we understand modern automotive luxury made by Mercedes-Benz,” Zetsche said.
The German automaker has also won the World Luxury Car of the Year as well as the World Performance Car of the Year for the S-Class Coupe and the Mercedes-AMG GT respectively.
