Korean luxury automaker aims new D-segment concept for the Germans
Late last year, Hyundai debuted a new sub brand for their premium vehicles. Called Genesis, the new marque first unveiled their first model, an F-Segment sedan called the G90. Genesis soon unveiled their E-Segment entry with the G80, essentially a renamed Hyundai Genesis sedan.
The Genesis brand will soon be unveiling a D-Segment sedan in the near future but the automaker will be revealing it in concept form for this year's New York Auto Show. Simply called the Genesis New York Concept, the Korean luxury automaker has billed this concept as a “four door sports car”.
Gunning straight for the segment stalwarts such as the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the new Genesis model will have rear wheel drive and spawn other body styles which include a coupe and a convertible. In this preview, one will see the brand's trademark hexagonal grill complemented by a honeycomb pattern. Slim LED headlights and an aggressive front bumper finish off the concept's front fascia.
Tentatively called the G70, Genesis will be taking the wraps off their latest model next week. The new sedan will be the third car to join the lineup and the first model that isn't based on existing Hyundai vehicles. Genesis will announce the arrival of the production model during the New York Auto Show.
