Scion to bow out with final tC Release Series 10.0
Scion will soon be heading out the door but that does not mean they'll be going quietly. They will be arriving at this year's New York International Auto Show with their last hurrah, the tC Release Series 10.0. It is a limited edition model that gets a custom paint finish, bespoke bodykit and other goodies from Toyota Racing Development (TRD).
Painted in Barcelona Red, the limited-run tC sports a Kei Miura-designed bodykit which is comprised of the following: front lip spoiler, rocker panels, rear lower spoiler and a deck spoiler. Blacked-out badges and gloss black alloy wheels, on the other hand, provide the striking contrast against the bright finish.
Inside, hues of red and black envelope the cabin. The former can be seen on the seat's contrast stitching, shift boot and steering wheel. Meanwhile, the latter was mostly used on the seats covers, dashboard and door trim. Completing it all is a set of Release Series-exclusive floor mats, red seat belts and an individually-numbered badge.
Under the hood, is the same 2.5-liter inline-four that produces 179 PS along with 233 Nm of torque. It can be mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or optional 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. TRD equipment present on the special edition tC include: lowered springs, and a custom dual exhaust.
“For those enthusiasts looking for a piece of history, this is a great opportunity to own our best tC ever. With the TRD performance parts, the JDM Aero Kit and the screaming red and black color scheme, it’s a fitting tribute to Scion’s mission to build cars for younger customers,” said Andrew Gilleland, Scion Vice President.
Only 1,200 units of the tC Release Series 10.0 will be made and will be arriving at Toyota dealerships in the US by June.
