Toyota will indeed be extending the model lineup of the all-new 2016 Prius after releasing a teaser image of a new upcoming variant.

Compared to the standard Prius that gets vertical wraparound taillights, the new model gets L-shaped taillights that interconnect on the upper section of the trunk. Other details about the upcoming Prius have yet to be released but Toyota did state that it will be a 'mechanical marvel' for the Prius lineup.

Speculation-wise, this could be the new plug-in hybrid Prius which may get a slightly altered front end based from our previous report. It will supposedly have a Mirai-inspired front end with its aggressive front fascia and sleeker roofline.

It will officially be revealed at the 2016 New York International Auto Show on March 23, 2016.
