A few months ago, Lexus unveiled their latest flagship luxury model, the 2018 LS. Now, the luxury Japanese marque has made their luxury sedan a little bit more sportier by treating it to the F Sport package, the 2018 Lexus LS 500 F Sport.
For those who do not know, the F Sport package is supposedly the middle ground between standard Lexus vehicles and the full-fledged, aggressive F-models. Available on both the LS 500 and LS 500h, the F Sport package the car a more aggressive design along with better handling, claims Lexus.
Most noticeable on the 2018 LS 500 F Sport is a redesigned spindle grille, which according to Lexus took five months of CAD work to design. The front bumper has also been redesigned to give it a more aggressive look with the side intake vents blackened out, like most F-Sport models. New side skirts, side and rear badging, and redesigned 20-inch wheels allow the LS F Sport to standout compared to the standard LS.
Inside, the LS F Sport has also been upgraded to make it sportier. It receives new bolstered front seats, various aluminum pieces and an F Sport steering wheel. A new digital instrument cluster has with a moving dial, similar to that on the LFA, has been installed. Finishing off the sportier treatment are aluminum trim pedals, suede headliner and a leather wrapped shifter.
Much like other F Sport models, the underpinnings of the LS has also been fiddled with. New six-piston and four-piston brakes now fit behind the larger 20-inch wheels. Non-hybrid LS models can also be fitted with the new Handling package, which Lexus claims to help the LS respond more like a sports coupe through the curves. The Handling package comes with variable-ratio steering, rear wheel steering, a “sports tuned” air suspension and an active stabilizer anti-rollbar system.
Powering the 2018 LS F Sport is still the same 3.5-liter biturbo V6 found on the standard LS which produces 415 horsepower and 599 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. As for the hybrid, the 3.5-liter V6 works with two electric motors to produce 354 horsepower.
