One injury was reported
The National Highway Trafic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States has opened an investigation into 205,000 units of the Ford Fiesta manufactured in 2011-2013 due to complaints about the doors failing to latch and inadvertently opening while driving.
According to NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation, they have received 61 reports concerning the door latches on model year 2011-2013 Ford Fiesta. Among the reports, 12 allege that the doors opened while driving and one injury was reported caused by a consumer being struck by the door that bounced back after closing it.
Complainants said the doors failed to latch and several reports indicated that the “door ajar” warning light on the dashboard appeared.
Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker said that the company is cooperating with the investigation.
