In the Philippines, there exists a small but growing group of car enthusiasts who fervently pay homage to the NISMO (NISsan MOtorsports) brand. These are Nissan car owners who closely follow NISMO's participation in international races (like the Super GT former known as the Japan Grand Touring Car Championship) and are itching to get their hands on genuine NISMO parts, whatever the price.

But these NISMO fanatics faced supply constraints, even if many of them had the money to buy the expensive parts bearing that brand. That will completely change now with the introduction of NISMO in the Philippines by Nissan Motor Philippines, Inc. (NMPI). "It is the mission of NISMO to provide motorists the opportunity to experience sportiness in their driving and we have greatly fulfilled that mission with what NISMO has for the Sentra and the X-Trail," said Hiroki Nishio, general manager for the overseas sales department of Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd.

"NMPI is very proud to introduce to the Philippines NISMO parts and accessories that are known for their high quality and excellent design. What we can promise from NISMO is excellent value for money," explained Dennis Chang, assistant vice-president for marketing and sales at NMPI.

NISMO is very popular in Japan and the United States. Its racing heritage is strongly associated with the Nissan Skyline GT-R, considered to be the greatest sports car out of Japan.

NISMO also spearheads the campaign of the 350Z in the 2005 Super GT through the XANAVI-NISMO Team, which is seeking a repeat of its driver and championship wins in 2004. It was in 2004 that NISMO resumed participation in the Super GT with the venerable Nissan 350Z.

In the various divisions of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), Nissan has registered a record 86 National Championships since 1967, with NISMO playing a great part in many of the wins. "The introduction of NISMO in the Philippines coincides with NMPI's launching of the Sentra I-Style, since the I-Style was meant to be dressed up by its owners. The redesigned tail lamps, grille and headlamps of the I-Style will definitely complement the NISMO accessories we will sell," said Mr. Chang.

The NISMO package for the I-Style Sentra will include side skirts, front and rear spoiler, sports air filter, engine oil filter, wheel nut set, front tower bar, radiator cap, fuel filler cap and air valve cap.

New Sentra buyers and present owners have the option to buy a complete set of NISMO parts, or buy selected parts they deem to be the most appropriate for their budget.

In due time, NMPI will introduce NISMO parts for its best selling X-Trail compact SUV. Exotic NISMO parts and accessories for the 350Z can also be ordered from the NISMO headquarters through NMPI.

"Truly, the entry of NISMO in the Philippines will be very exciting for Nissan owners," said Mr. Nishio.
