If you check out Nissan's global model lineup, you'll notice that a huge chunk of it are comprised of crossovers. From the small B-segment models such as the Kicks and the Juke. to the full-size SUVs like the Patrol, there's a crossover from Nissan that will suit all of your various needs.

Soon, though, the Japanese automaker will be further expanding its crossover lineup with a new compact crossover. Unlike most models, it won't be built in Japan, Europe or the US. Instead, it will come from India.

The mystery model was recently teased by a tweet on Nissan India's Twitter feed. The tweet composed of a single teaser photo of the upcoming model together with a link to “know more” about it. Ironically, the link only redirects to a site where you sign up for updates about the vehicle. It doesn't really divulge any information or detail whatsoever.

As a result, we're left with only the lone teaser photo to go by. From the looks of it, it does seem compact. We're guessing it's around the same size as the Kicks or possibly even smaller. Design-wise, it does have a front and rear end similar to the Kicks with the sleek headlights and wraparound taillights. However, this new model has a boxier design, along with pumped fenders lending to a more rugged look. Noticeably, it has a raked tailgate and an integrated rear spoiler for a sportier look.

At the moment, there are no details about mystery Nissan crossover's powertrain just yet. It is possible that it could use a small engine, similar to the one installed on the Juke and Kicks. Considering its rugged styling, all-wheel drive could be offered as well.

What we do know about the crossover is that it will be built in India. The vehicle will also embody the philosophy of “Make in India, Make for the World”. It will also be  equipped with the latest features and technology as part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

Nissan has not revealed when the model will make its official debut.
