The NISMO Festival is one of the most highly-anticipated events annually held by Nissan at the Fuji Speedway. Held annually in either late November or early December, the festival features some of the best Nissan performance models, race cars both old and new, and a lot more. With it, the NISMO Festival always draws thousands of fans both from Japan and all over the world.
This year marked the 23rd running of the NISMO Festival and was originally scheduled to take place on December 6, 2020. Despite being months away, it seems Nissan is not taking any chances with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and has announced that the event has been canceled.
“The decision to cancel this year’s festival was made to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of fans, participating teams, exhibitors, and Nissan and NISMO employees. Nissan and NISMO will make every effort to further improve the event for next year and beyond, in the hope that more fans than ever will look forward to and enjoy the NISMO Festival in the future,” Nissan said in a statement.
It seems this will likely be the trend for any big motoring event this coming year, even if it is towards the end of 2020. Interestingly, the automaker has decided not to follow in the footsteps of Thailand with the 41st Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) which is still on-going at the moment. That said, BIMS will likely be the only big motor show held during the time of the pandemic.
If you were planning to go to the festival this year, maybe reschedule it to 2021. Fortunately, we here at Autoindustriya.com have been to the NISMO Festival in the past. So why not go through our article and photos to experience what it is like to be at the event.
