Nissan has a lot of models to launch this year. Specifically, there are a total of 13 models that will be making their debuts – from the Ariya to the next-generation Z. We've already seen the Rogue/X-Trail last month, and in a few weeks, the Ariya will debut as well. Out of the thirteen though, there was one model that had us scratching our heads – the mystery M-named crossover. Fortunately, we might not have to wait long to find out more about the model.
Over at Nissan India, the automaker has released a teaser of what they call the B-SUV. From the looks of the teaser, the upcoming B-SUV looks very much like the M-named crossover the automaker previewed last May. It features the same headlight design with a slim LED signature integrated into the headlights paired with an L-shaped vertical LED on the bumper.
At the moment, Nissan has not released technical details about the B-SUV just yet. So far, they only said it will come with Nissan Intelligent Mobility, so that could mean connectivity, powertrain, safety, among others. For now, we'll have to rely on the two teaser photos provided.
From the looks of it, the upcoming crossover will have modern and rugged styling courtesy of black fender cladding, chunky all-terrain tires, and a skid-plate integrated onto the bumper. There's also a big grille front and center which interestingly does not seem to incorporate Nissan's V-motion design language. The rest of the crossover is still covered as such we will have to wait until the vehicle debuts to know more.
The Nissan M, as it is supposedly named, will be an Indian model. According to Nissan, it will be the company's compact B-segment SUV for the Indian subcontinent and “reflects Nissan-ness, a philosophy aimed at empowering people through breakthrough products and technologies”. Furthermore, it “is designed for tomorrow's journey as a feature-rich premium offering with a stylish design for a strong and dynamic road presence”.
We won't have to wait too long to know more about the upcoming Nissan B-SUV. The model will be officially launched on July 16, 2020, and is scheduled to go on sale in the second half of FY 2020-21. One thing for sure is that the name of the model will start with an M which supposedly means 'Magnite'. Or should they call it the M-Trail?
