Last month, we reported that Nissan was working on a likely 'beefed-up' Navara pickup as the company filed a 'Navara Off Roader' trademark with the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). It has all come to fruition with this new Navara Off-Roader AT32 that just debuted at the Commercial Vehicles show in Birmingham, UK.

Engineered by renowned extreme 4WD builder Arctic Trucks, Nissan introduces a new level of toughness to the Navara pickup truck. The 'standard' package includes a mild suspension lift by 20mm, skid plates for better underbody protection, 17-inch alloy wheels with 32-inch all-terrain tires, and fender flares for a better stance and body protection.

More demanding customers can opt to include a snorkel (which increases wading depth to 800mm from 600mm) as well as front differential lockers as optional extras to improve off-road ability.

As you may have already deciphered 'AT32' means Artic Trucks and 32-inch tires.

“The Nissan Navara OFF-ROADER AT32 is the most capable Navara we’ve ever sold, and the CV Show is the perfect location for its debut. We believe the mix of enhanced off-road ability and upgraded exterior features will appeal to a new audience of both professional and recreational pickup customers,” says Alex Smith, Managing Director of Nissan Great Britain.

Nissan says that the underbody protection plates cover the engine, transmission, propeller, and fuel tank. Essential items for going through extreme conditions which its engineering partner from Iceland is known for. The raised suspension (243mm from 223mm) allows for a 35-degree approach and 24-degree break-over angle.

The 32-inch all-terrain tires have been specified to improve off-road traction while maintaining on-road performance. It also allows users to lower tire pressures when tackling soft-sand or snow for maximum traction. The larger tires combined with the suspension lift increases vehicle height by 40mm.

The factory side step board has also been finished in matte black to complement the new fender flares installed by Artic Trucks.

The new tough features aim to complement the Navara's on-board suite of smart tech such as Hill Start Assist, Hill Decent Control, Intelligent Emergency Braking and Intelligent Around View Monitor.

With the many off-road pickup enthusiasts in the Philippines, it won't be long before someone decides to kit their Navara with something like this. Or we can always hope for Nissan Philippines to do something like this as well.
