Have you been eagerly waiting for the Nissan's latest SUV? Wait no more as Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) officially joins the lucrative pickup-platform (PPV) arena.
After a lengthy teaser campaign and months of road (and off-road) testing, the all-new Nissan Terra has officially debuted in the Philippines. Aimed squarely against the likes of the Chevy Trailblazer, Ford Everest, Isuzu mu-X, Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Toyota Fortuner, Nissan's contender in the PPV segment packs a high-tech punch wrapped in a sleek and muscular design.
Beginning with its looks, the 2018 Terra features a rugged and sophisticated exterior that blends brawn and beauty into one. A massive V-Motion front grill, along with boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights serve as eye-candy for the mighty Terra..
As it is based off the Navara, it gets the same ladder-frame chassis and multi-link coil spring rear suspension. With it, the Nissan Terra promises a tough yet comfortable ride in any given situation.
Opening the doors reveal a familiar cabin design lifted from the Navara. A V-shaped steering wheel and a sloping dashboard immediately greets occupants in the Terra. Comfortable Zero Gravity front seats, as well as automatic climate control (with rear vents) are available on high-end models of the Terra. As expected, the Nissan Terra can seat seven in total when the third row seats are deployed. Getting in and out of the third row has been made easier thanks to an automatic tumble function for the second row seats. This can be done with a push of a button located at the center console.
Unlike the Chinese version which gets a 2.5-liter QR25 gasoline engine, the ASEAN-spec Terra is powered by a 2.5-liter YD25DDTi turbo-diesel engine that is also found in the Navara. All variants of the Terra will have 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Available transmissions include a six-speed manual and a seven-speed automatic.
Like the refreshed X-Trail, the 2018 Terra can also come with Nissan's slew of Intelligent Mobility Features. These include a 360-degree around-view monitor, reverse camera with rear cross traffic alert via the Intelligent Rear View Mirror and lane departure warning. Other safety kit available in the Terra are: anti-lock brakes, vehicle dynamic control, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring system and a host of airbags.
Most interesting about the Terra is the pricing: Nissan Philippines President Ramesh Narasimhan stated that the Terra will start at PhP 1,499,000.
