Last week, Nissan Philipppines Inc. (NPI) released the first set of teaser photos for the all-new Almera. However, the automaker revealed little to no details about the model. One of the images shows the new VL Turbo badge, indicating that the sedan will use the new 1.0-liter turbocharged inline-three similar to the Thai-spec model.
Still, one question remained: when will Nissan launch the 2022 Almera? It seems that has been answered today – October 8, 2021. Better mark your calendars.
NPI has said that the all-new Almera will debut next Friday. Unfortunately, that's all Nissan is willing to reveal for now. We will have to wait until October 8 to know the full specs, details, and pricing of Nissan's new subcompact sedan.
Aside from the new turbocharged engine, what else can we expect from the 2022 Almera? In terms of styling, it will likely follow that of the Thai-spec model we saw at the 2019 Thailand International Motor Expo. At least that's based on the teasers and the camouflaged units spotted by an eagle-eyed reader. Its sharper design, LED headlights and more prominent V-Motion grille will surely catch people's attention too.
No teasers of the interior were provided. But if it's the same as the Thailand-spec, expect a full redesign of the dashboard. In front of the driver will be a new three-spoke steering wheel with a more upscale design. Expect to see a touchscreen infotainment system (possibly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), automatic climate control, and an instrument cluster with a new multi-info display. Hopefully, local models also come with Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety suite of systems like the Thailand-spec model.

Check back on the day of the launch. We'll bring you prices, specs, and variants of the 2022 Almera once it's available to us.
