The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has junked the provisional safeguard duties imposed on passenger cars and light commercials vehicles (LCVs) earlier this week. As a result, automakers announced that they will start refunding safeguard deposits to customers very soon.
It’s much easier for automakers that separated the deposit from the vehicle payment as the SRP of their vehicle lineup remains unchanged. But that isn't the case for Nissan which opted to include the SG with the SRP of the 2021 Navara when they launched it earlier this year. Now they have adjusted their prices.
Compared to before, the entry-level 2021 Navara EL MT 4x2 now starts at PHP 1,026,000. For reference, it was previously list at PHP 1,149,000; a PHP 123,000 difference. Interestingly, the PHP 123,000 difference is effectively how much the safeguard bond is for LCVs with the 12% VAT included. Nissan Philippines announced that the new prices without the safeguard deposit will be effective August 12, 2021.
The rest of the Navara lineup receives the same PHP 123,000 discount except for the Navara Pro-4X AT 4x4. From PHP 1,849,000, the Nissan’s top-of-the-line pick-up truck is now listed at PHP 1,746,000; a PHP 103,000 difference.
