Nissan takes pride in being 'at the cutting-edge of automotive technology' as it celebrates its 80th anniversary with the month-long Nissan 360. This event in Irvine, California will feature the brand's latest developments through a lineup of its latest models and engineering innovations to over 1,000 expected attendees.
“Nissan is proud to be at the cutting-edge of automotive technology, with exciting prospects that will help shape the future use, brand appeal and environmental impact of vehicles amid continued global growth in overall vehicle demand,” said Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO.
Significant updates are expected to come from Nissan's senior executives led by CEO and President Carlos Ghosn. The event coincides with continuing with Nissan’s Power 88 plan that aims to claim 8% market share and 8% operating margins by the end of the 2016 fiscal year.
The updates come as Nissan is extending its global presence through its long-standing Alliance with Renault, complemented by more recent partnerships in different vehicle or engineering segments with Daimler, Mitsubishi Motors, AvtoVAZ, Dongfeng and Ashok Leyland.
Nissan 360 will involve testing more than 100 vehicles from Nissan, Infiniti and Datsun in specially designed courses at the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station in California. The brand is also expected to renew its efforts in zero-emission vehicles. Currently, Nissan holds the best selling global EV record with over 74,000 units of its LEAF model.
The company is also likely to reveal further plans to build on its market presence in countries including China, the US, Mexico, Brazil, Russia and other territories.
"Nissan is poised for further growth and innovation developments after 80 years of trend-setting in our industry," added Ghosn.
Nissan 360 will be the third major global event by the brand following the Renault-Nissan Alliance in 1999. As Nissan continues to live up to its vision, we should expect more developments and innovation in the automotive industry.
