After introducing the Note e-Power NISMO back in 2016, Nissan has now revealed a new, more powerful version of the hybrid-electric hatchback.
Officially called the Note e-Power NISMO S and on display at their General Headquarters in Yokohama, Japan, it is essentially a higher spec model of the previous NISMO. But unlike other NISMO-variants offered by Nissan, the changes on the Note e-Power NISMO S are more than just cosmetic.
Power on the Note e-Power NISMO S has been increased as it now produces 136 PS and 320 Nm of torque from it's 1.2-liter engine. For comparison, the previous Note e-Power NISMO only produced 109 PS and 254 Nm of torque. This is mainly thanks to Nissan's in-house tuner, NISMO (NISsan MOtorsport), which implemented a custom tune to the inverter and the vehicle control module. Because of this increase in power, top speed is now rated at 180 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.7 second.
Handling wise, the suspension setup used on the non-S variant has been carried over. That said, the NISMO S gets improved handling and a more comfortable ride thanks to tuned springs and shocks. Other structural enhancements were also made to further improve the Note e-Power NISMO's performance. It also offers a number of driving modes which allows for different driving styles.
Externally, it's hard to tell the Note e-Power NISMO and NISMO S apart. They share the same exterior styling such as the revised front bumper, exhaust and wheels. The only way to distinguish the two would be the NISMO S emblems on the front and rear along with the new projector LED headlights which has auto-leveling.
Inside, the NISMO bits from the non-S version has also been carried over. There are new seats, NISMO gauge clusters and red accented trim all around. Other NISMO bits such as aluminum footrest and accelerator and brake pedals complete the makeover.
