Heads up motorists: the entire southbound direction of the Bigaa and Meycauayan bridges along the North Luzon Expressway will be closed to traffic starting tomorrow night.
From June 9 until June 12, 2021, NLEX Corporation will be doing girder replacement works on both bridges. The girder replacement will take place between the hours of 10:00 PM until 4:00 AM the next day.
In order to keep southbound traffic moving despite the temporary bridge closure, NLEX will put a counterflow lane on the northbound segment of the two bridges. In addition, traffic patrol crews/marshals will be deployed in strategic areas to ensure motorists are guided accordingly.
This is not the first time that a southbound portion of NLEX had to be closed to motorists. Last week, NLEX Corporation closed the southbound direction of the Meycauayan bridge from June 1 until June 4 to give way to girder replacement.
The rehabilitation works on the southbound Meycauayan and Bigaa bridges are expected to be completed by September 2021. Work on the northbound direction will start once repair works are completed on the southbound direction.
Motorists and truckers that are heading to Manila or further south later via NLEX later in the evening (and the coming days) better plan their trips at an earlier time if they want to pass through the two bridges with no delays.
