Need to head out to the provinces this week? NLEX Corporation recently announced that both the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) will remain operational amid the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

The news was confirmed by J. Luigi L. Bautista, president, and general manager of NLEX Corporation.

“We recognize the critical role of our company in providing vital infrastructure for the unimpeded flow of goods and services. Our team commits to comply with government guidelines and directives, and continue to protect our employees and motorists,” said Bautista.

He adds that both expressways will operate 24/7 to ensure the unhampered movement of essential goods, frontliners, workers, and Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR). All toll plazas are open but will only operate at a limited capacity. At the Balintawak, Bocaue, and Mindanao toll plazas, 50% - 60% of the lanes will remain open to motorists.

NLEX Corporation adds that their manpower deployment for toll and traffic operations will be at 60% - 70%. The toll operator is also working closely with the Philippine National Police with the various checkpoints and monitoring operations along the expressways.

Should motorists suffer a breakdown, a free 24-hour towing service to the nearest exit for Class 1 vehicles will be available from 6:00 AM March 31, 2021, to April 5, 2021, 6:00 AM.

“Despite the challenging times, our team remains steadfast in providing round-the-clock assistance to our customers, government partners, and other stakeholders,” added Bautista.

Should you need to head out during ECQ, always make sure to wear a face mask when you're riding along with your companions. Also, don't forget to bring valid IDs and necessary documents with you.
