Heading up north sometime this week? Better be prepared for traffic on the expressway. The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation will be doing safety repairs on the northbound Candaba Viaduct. To be specific, a portion of the left most lane will be closed (approximately 200m long) near the end of the bridge and will be closed for ten days. Repairs began last Friday, June 1 and is expected to be completed on June 10.
Apart from the lane closure, NLEX Corporation will also be closing a 2 km stretch of the northbound Candaba Viaduct lane for 8-hours to speed up road repairs. The closing of the northbound Candaba Viaduct will take effect on the following dates – June 5 from 10pm to 6am the next day, and June 6 from 10pm to 6am the next day.
Traffic and safety devices will be placed at the area further guide motorists of the on-going repairs. As for the 2km road closure on the northbound Candaba Viaduct, a traffic counterflow scheme will be implemeneted for northbound motorists.
The NLEX Coporation has also announced that other maintenance works are scheduled to take place on both NLEX and Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) from June 4 to 7. The affected areas of NLEX include portions of Sta. Ines Interchange, Angeles Interchange, Mexico Interchange, Dau Interchange and even portions of the southbound Candaba Viaduct. Meanwhile in SCTEX, portions of the Mabalacat exit ramp going to NLEX – both from Subic and Tarlac – and the exit ramp going to NLEX southbound will be affected.
Expect some delays in areas covered by roadworks as well as partial lane closures to be implemented in affected areas.
