MMDA lifts number-coding and reroutes traffic on April 28 ASEAN Summit
Friday, April 28, may be a special non-working day but be advised of the traffic advisories related to the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit that will affect motorists in Metro Manila on that day.
Except for the cities of Makati and Las Pinas, the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the number-coding scheme has been lifted by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
A traffic rerouting scheme has also been placed in various areas of Manila, Pasay and Makati City in order to facilitate the commute of delegates participating in the ASEAN Summit at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
Designated as ASEAN lanes that will be closed to all motorists when delegates are use it are the following:
• Sen. W. Diokno Boulevard
• Jalandoni Street
• V. Sotto Street
• Bukaneg Street
• Dela Rama Street
• Arnaiz Avenue (stop-and-go scheme will be implemented)
• Makati Avenue (stop-and-go scheme will be implemented)
• Parkway Drive
The Skyway shall also be locked-down for 30 minutes as soon as delegates use it.
Vehicles exiting Paseo and going to Arnaiz should turn right to Benavidez Street, right to Trasierra, then left to Gamboa and right to Rufino all the way to Chino Roces Avenue or Javier Street.
Another option is to make a U-turn to Amorsolo/Rufino then right to Fernando towards their destination.
Should Esperenza Street be heavily congested, motorists can opt to take Paseo then turn right to Ayala toward EDSA.
Motorists along Roxas Boulevard southbound must turn left at P. Burgos, Kalaw or UN Avenue then turn right at Taft, right at Buendia or EDSA then left to Roxas Boulevard to destination.
On Roxas Boulevard northbound, motorists should turn right at EDSA, Arnaiz or Buendia then left at Taft and left at UN Avenue or Finance Road to destination.
The CCP Complex has also been designated as an ASEAN delegates only zone starting today until April 29.
Meanwhile, all trucks with a gross capacity weight of at least 4,500 kg. will also be rerouted.
Trucks coming from the Port Area to South Super Highway (SLEX) must take Bonifacio Drive, left to P. Burgos, Finance Road, Ayala Blvd., then right at San Marcelino, left to Pres. Quirino Ave., and right at South Super Highway.
Trucks from SLEX going to Port Area should take South Super Highway, turn right to Pres. Quirino Ave., left at Plaza Dilao, right at Pres. Quirino Ave. Ext., left at United Nations Ave., right at Romualdez St., left at Ayala, Finance Road, P. Burgos, and right at Bonifacio Drive to Port Area.
