For those who think the Ford Ranger Raptor still looks tame, they should check out what Ford Australia did to the performance pick-up. They took a 2021 Ford Ranger Raptor and gave it even more attitude.
It's called the Ranger Raptor X, and it gets a sportier look thanks to a host of exterior and interior upgrades. Perhaps serving as the most obvious are the distinct black and red racing stripes that look similar to the Ranger Tremor launched in the US.
To complement the racing stripes, the Raptor X also gets red tow hooks. The 17-inch alloy wheels get a blacked-out finish and ride on 33-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. Rounding up the exterior upgrades is the tubular sports bar at the back.
Inside, Ford decided to keep the upgrades subtle for the Ranger Raptor X. It gets additional red contrast stitching all-around that further highlights its sporty pedigree. Unique to the Ranger Raptor X is the body-contoured front seats.
Like the standard Ranger Raptor, a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel inline-four powers the Ranger Raptor X. It makes an impressive 213 PS, along with a gut-pulling 500 Nm of torque. As before, a 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to the wheels. Other key features on the Ranger Raptor X include bigger brakes and magnesium paddle shifters.
With Ford Philippines already offering the FX4 and FX4 Max for the standard Ranger, maybe it’s time the automaker gives the Ranger Raptor a special variant. It would be a great addition to the line-up given that this generation is on its final year,
