We've already had a good look at the updated 2021 XV when we went to visit the Subaru showroom in Manila Bay. It certainly looks a lot better in the metal, even in white. Still, we're hoping to see the Plasma Yellow Pearl model soon. At the time, however, we have still yet to know the price. But that all changes now. Motor Image Pilipinas announced the refreshed XV is officially on sale. Before we get to the price, let's go over the changes once again.
The 2021 XV features a redesigned front end with a new grille, bumper, and 18-inch wheels. Thanks to the redesign, the updated XV looks more rugged with prominent black cladding upfront.
It also has new features to match the more rugged look. The 2021 XV now comes with dual-function X-Mode from the Forester. That allows it to take on rough terrain than before thanks to more modes. Paired with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, it can take on any terrain. Meanwhile, SI-Drive allows the driver to choose between two driving modes. Despite the software upgrades, the familiar 2.0-liter boxer engine is retained, producing 156 PS and 196 Nm torque.
Inside, the 2021 XV gets a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As before, Subaru's EyeSight safety suite is standard on the model. Meanwhile, the rest of the cabin is carried over.
Now for the price and specs. Unlike before, Motor Image Pilipinas is offering the 2021 XV in only one variant – 2.0i-S EyeSight. The price? It's the same as the pre-facelift XV 2.0i-S at PHP 1,908,000. But if you order one before June 30, 2021, Motor Image Pilipinas will give you a PHP 80,000 discount. With that, it's even more affordable than the pre-facelift model. The price is also inclusive of the DTI Safeguard bond. Subaru says will bear the full DTI safeguard bond for all XV units on behalf of its customers.
So no more entry-level XV 2.0i EyeSight variant for the XV, but what about the more stylish GT Edition? We asked Motor Image Pilipinas, and it's gone too. Well, that is for now. Like before, a GT Edition will be made available for the updated XV down the line.
